SYLLABUS
The Gay Wightman School of Ballet employs the Borovansky Memorial Australian Academy of Dancing (BMAAD) syllabus as the backbone of its training and teaching. The Russian based syllabus aims at producing and grooming not just dancers, but artists of the dance....
Students are examined on the BMAAD Syllabus from Beginners through to Solo Seal through Australasian Dance Assessment.

Acceptance into the MBC courses is by audition only. These are elite courses following the Vaganova method of training for talented and dedicated students from 10years of age.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Gay Wightman School of Ballet Internal Scholarships are awarded to talented students showing great future potential, personal improvement and dedication.
- The Gay Wightman Senior Scholarship - $2,500.00
- The Melbourne Ballet Company Scholarship- $2,500.00
- Senior Boys Scholarship- $2,500.00
- The Gay Wightman Junior Scholarship - $500.00
- The Melda Rees Memorial Scholarship - $500.00
- The Marjorie Wightman Scholarship - $500.00
- The Jazz Scholarship - $100.00
- The Contemporary Scholarship - $100.00
These scholarships are at the discretion of the principal and there will be no negotiation or discussion entered into.
External scholarships for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are awarded annually at Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced examination levels by Australasian Dance Assessment Inc.
Eligibility for the $2,000.00 Solo Seal scholarship is limited to students who have obtained a pass with Distinction in the Solo Seal examination and acceptance into the Australian Ballet School. Monies are paid directly to the Australian Ballet School.
Candidate’s 21 years and older are classified as adult candidates and are thus ineligible to be awarded scholarships.

MELBOURNE BALLET COMPANY
Our students are extremely privileged to be connected to a professional ballet company offering paid contracts to high standard classical and contemporary dancers. The Gay Wightman School of Ballet students have the privilege of watching company rehearsals, participating in company classes, having guest teachers from the company and the chance to work with the company in extra roles when required. Melbourne Ballet Company is a non-profit organization and any donations are fully tax deductable.
